Norberto Vargas, MD, FAA PMR
Dr. Vargas is a diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as The American Board of Addiction Medicine, and The American Board of Obesity Medicine. He is also a Medical Review Officer for the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Dr. Vargas graduated from the Ponce School of Medicine, Puerto Rico and completed his residency at Baylor University Medical Center of Dallas in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Vargas is the clinic’s Addiction specialist.
The methodology Dr. Vargas uses provides a comprehensive approach in the treatment of all of his patients. He performs electro-diagnostic testing, fluoroscopic-guided lumbar spinal injections to treats both acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, and chronic pain management. He has successfully introduced the use of ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal injections to the practice, thus improving procedure outcomes while avoiding exposure risks of radiation. He also has trained in the field of Prolo Therapy for the treatment of pain generated by ligament and tendon laxity. John Paul Benavides, DO, MS, MPH, FAA PMR
Dr. Benavides is a diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as The American Board of Sports Medicine, and The American Board of Pain Medicine.
Dr. Benavides DO attended the University of North Texas Science Center as well as the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 2001. Dr. Benavides completed his residency at Southwestern Medical Center in 2005.

He performs electro-diagnostic testing, fluoroscopic-guided lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spinal injections to treats both acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, and chronic pain management. He has successfully introduced the use of ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal injections to the practice, thus improving procedure outcomes while avoiding exposure risks of radiation. He also has trained in PRP (Plasma Rich Platlet), performs Kphoplasty, and Spinal Cord Stim placements.
Dr. Benavides’ areas of interest and expertise include interventional spine procedures, Sports Medicine, Pain Management. Dr. Benavides is certified to treat opioid dependence with the use of Suboxone. Dr. Benavides also is a RockDoc provider and treats performers in town at the local venues.
Alishia Bratcher MSN, APRN, FNP-C
Alishia is a Family Nurse Practitioner that joined the Paragon Pain & Rehabilitation team in 2020. Born and raised locally, she graduated from Paris Junior College in 1997 with an Associate of Science in Nursing Degree and began her career as a Registered Nurse in Paris, Texas. She then went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1999 from The University of Texas at Arlington, where she was recognized for nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service, and was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
With a nursing career spanning over twenty years, Alishia has been dedicated to providing caring and compassionate healthcare to the local community. Her experience includes a variety of nursing settings consisting of home health, cardiac rehabilitation, hospital case management, cardiac telemetry, and critical care nursing. In 2019, she obtained a Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington and was certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. As part of the Paragon Pain & Rehabilitation team, Alishia is trained in treating acute and chronic pain. In addition, she has obtained certification by SAMSHA to provide treatment for opioid dependence with the use of Suboxone. At Paragon, she will continue to ensure the highest quality of care to patients in this community.
Chelsea Hinkle, MSN, RN, FNP-C
Chelsey Hinkle was born and raised in Paris, Texas. She obtained her Baccalaureate degree in Nursing at the University of Oklahoma. After graduation, she completed the Critical Care Nurse residency program at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. While working in their Emergency Department she developed a love for service and giving back to the community. She graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with a Master’s in Nursing and was certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the AANP. At Paragon Pain and Rehabilitation, Chelsey treats chronic pain, obesity, and in-patient rehabilitation patients. She loves spending time with her husband and their two young daughters.
Trung N. Doan, C.N.P
Trung is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner who joined Paragon Pain & Rehabilitation team in 2017. He was born and raised in South Vietnam. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology in Vietnam and had been working there before relocating to the United States in 2006 to pursue higher education. He aspired to become a healthcare professional with his biotechnology background and experience. He enrolled in the nursing program at Tyler Junior College. While studying at Tyler Junior College, he also tutored students and earned his National Mathematic tutor in 2008. He graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He brings an array of clinical and patient care experience. He has worked in many specialties including cardiac telemetry, rehabilitation, pediatric home health, and trauma care. He then went onto pursue his master’s degree and graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing from Simmons University in Boston with honors. During his graduate studies, he was awarded to be a part of the Sigma Theta Tau International Society of Nursing. Trung strives to provide high-quality, comprehensive medical care to his patients and firmly believes in a holistic and individualized approach. He is excited to be a part of the team here to ensure high-quality care and achieve the best patient care outcome.
JENNIFER PAULI RN, MSN, FNP-C
Jennifer always knew she enjoyed helping people and has turned that passion into a career spanning more than a dozen years. After graduating from The University of Texas at El Paso with her bachelor’s degree in Nursing, she began her career in the Intensive Care Unit. She then transitioned to the Neonatal ICU and spent several years as a travel nurse working in varied hospitals throughout the country such as UCLA and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles as well at Children’s Health in Dallas. Then she chose to further her education by obtaining her master’s degree in Nursing, specializing in Family Practice from The University of Texas at Arlington. She is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Suboxone Waiver Certified by SAMSHA. Currently, her focus is treating acute and chronic pain in patients in the skilled and long-term care units of several nursing homes throughout the Metroplex. When she is not treating patients, Jennifer dedicates her time to her husband, two girls and her cats as well as painting and gardening.
Erica Rush, MSN, ACNP-BC
Erica M. Rush, was born and raised in a small New Jersey town. Her nursing education began in New Jersey, traveled to Florida and has settled in Texas.
In New Jersey, she graduated in 1998 as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and then relocated to Jacksonville, Florida. After working in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) for a year, she began working as an agency nurse. Baptist Regional Medical Center recruited her to join their facility as a medical surgical nurse. During this employment, she became a preceptor and assistant nurse manager of the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit while graduating with honors; first in 2002 with her Associate Degree in Nursing, followed by her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 2004.
After eight years Erica relocated to Texas and began working for Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano (BRMCP) as a Clinical Nurse Educator. Here she achieved many professional accomplishments such as developing a Nurse Externship, Co-Chair in Diabetes Center of Excellence Application Committee, Chair of Pain Resource Nurses Committee and became Certified in Pain Management from the America Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). While advancing her education, she earned double honors in 2009 when she graduated from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, with a Master of Science in Nursing Degree. After passing her ANCC Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification, a new position at BRMCP was created for Erica to assist five orthopedic and one colorectal surgeon, as a consultant for pain management of acute, chronic and post-operative patients.
Since 2014, Erica has been a part of the Paragon Pain & Rehabilitation team. Here she started in their clinic treating acute and chronic pain patients with medications, steroid, and trigger point injections. She has also been trained in Suboxone for the use pain management and opioid dependence. Currently, she has transitioned to treating acute and chronic pain patients in an SNF and long-term care setting.
Karen McNerney, Practice Administrator
Karen was born in Bossier City, LA and grew up in DFW. She is a certified Practice Manager and has worked in PM&R medical field for the past 30 years.
As Practice Administrator of Paragon Pain & Rehabilitation she has worked with both Dr. Benavides and Dr. Vargas for over 10 years, starting Paragon Pain & Rehabilitation with them in 2012.
Karen certifications have included; Certified Practice Manager, and Certified Medical Coder, from PMI, Six Sigma Yellow belt. She currently attends Strategic Coach Team leadership courses in Toronto, BC. Karen loves spending time with family and friends, and was a foster parent for three years and continues to support Tarrant County Foster Parent Association.
